Community makes Copenhagen stronger

Copenhagen is one of the world’s best cities to live, work, and raise a family in. Yet thousands of Copenhageners often feel lonely or experience loneliness in their daily lives. The best way to combat loneliness is through a strong community. Fortunately, there is a lot we can do locally in politics to strengthen the city’s many communities across generations, geography, income, political views, and much more.

About Yildiz

Yildiz means star in Turkish. I was born in a small village in Turkey and grew up in a traditional working-class family in Esbjerg. Since then, I have studied in Aarhus and now live with my daughter in Nørrebro. On my journey, I have experienced firsthand how the strong communities in big cities give people a much better life. I have noticed how the feeling of belonging to a social community is crucial to one’s well-being, happiness, and health. That is why I am running for election to strengthen the communities in our capital.

As your candidate, I will work to:

  • Make the city more accessible for children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and people with walking difficulties
  • Build more public housing, housing for the elderly, mixed residential areas, and shared housing where young and old live side by side
  • Create more green meeting places, “piazzas,” and benches in all neighborhoods
  • Ensure cultural centers and sports facilities in every neighborhood with activities for all age groups
  • Strengthen efforts to combat homelessness and ensure faster assistance for vulnerable and mentally fragile citizens
  • Combat racism and discrimination in nightlife, on the streets, and in the workplace
